1) History of
Complaint
During your initial visit, you will have the oppurtunity
to tell Dr.Chan your reasons for seeking Chiropractic care. Whether it be for aches and pains, specialized conditioning or
overall wellness. Dr. Chan, in turn will take a thorough history of your health. Together, the doctor and patient can uncover
the underlying cause of pain and see if there are other factors that may be affecting the patient's health.
3) Report of Findings
After gathering information from the history and physical exam, Dr. Chan and the patient will
discuss a report of findings. This is where Dr. Chan will help explain the results from the preceding exams and tie all the
information together. Dr. Chan will offer the patient a preliminary or "working" diagnosis of what is the most probable
cause of pain and dysfunction. After explaining the diagnosis, Dr. Chan will describe a recommended treatment plan for the
patient. Then the patient can decide which plan
is right for them. Treatment plans can address goals ranging from acute, pain relief to longer lasting health and wellness.
5) Home and Follow-Up
Care
After treatments in the clinic, Dr. Chan will discuss with
the patient home care. Home care includes healthy things the patient can do at work and at home in order to speed recovery.
Often, this involves an individualized stretching and exercise routine for the patient. The overall goal of these healthy
practices is not only to relieve a patient's current pain and dysfunction but to also teach a patient how to avoid future
problems from even occuring.

2) Physical Exam
After a history is taken, there will be a physical exam. During this exam, the patient will be
asked to perform certain movements. This is done to assess a patient's normal range of motion and to detect if there is any
pain or restrictions.
In addition, other tests will also be performed, including; neurologic, orthopaedic and Chiropractic tests. Gathering as much
information as possible will help formulate the best diagnosis and correctly identify the problem.

4) Treatment
Here is where the actual treatment portion of the visit begins. After the patient has consented
to treatment, Dr. Chan will begin by working on the muscles and soft tissues. Treatment will begin with massage, stretching
and trigger point therapy in order to release any accumulated tension in the muscles around the affected area. "Preparing"
and relaxing the body allows the rest of the treatment to proceed with more comfort for the patient and reduces the likelihood
of any soreness that may arise later. Dr. Chan will use directed, focused thrusts called "Adjustments", to correct mis-alignments in the body and
reduce nerve irritation. The Adjustments used by Dr. Chan are designed for the comfort of the patient and to reduce the chance
of post treatment soreness. (Dr. Chan routinely treats patients that have never been to Chiropractors before and does his
best to accomodate any of the patient's questions and concerns).
